The course also introduces a range of specialized design-build tools and techniques including the totally new and innovative SAFEFDB-Methodology. The SAFEDB-Methodology is developed by the course Instructor in a PhD thesis and aims to enable a high level of efficiency and control over operations in a structured scientifically validated manner. Methodology is introduced in a practical manner using real-world design-build case studies supported by numerical examples. COURSE OUTLINE AND ORGANIZATION
The course consists of 12 study Modules, each module targets one of the 12 course learning objectives. Modules 1 to 7 focus on the Design-Build process at large, whereas Modules 8 to 12 focus on the SAFEDB-Methodology of delivering design-build projects. The full benefit of the course is achieved by completing and making sense of ALL 12 course Modules in conjunction with each other as a one whole body of knowledge. However, each Module can still be used on its own as a practical stand alone knowledge unit.
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the Course, students should be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the following list of 12 learning objectives addressed through the course's 12 study Modules, namely:

Module 2: Define the design-build approach and compare it to other project delivery approaches
Module 3: Understand PMI PMBOK® Guide Project Management model and how it applies in design-build
Module 4: Lead Design-Build partnering, tendering and winning the Design-Build tender competition
Module 5: Be aware of Design-Build forms of contract and appreciate its legal aspects
Module 6: Setup the Design-Build team, perform the DB project manager’s role and ensure strategic alignment
Module 7: Perform DB team mobilization, planning, risk management and KPI performance measurement
Module 8: Understand the background and objectives of the SAFEDB-Methodology
Module 9: Select the Best Design-Build Solutions

Each Module is about 60 minutes of net teaching time on average, and requires 3-5 hours of studying. For busy professionals it is recommended to complete one Module each week along with Quizzes and Homework Assignments.

This off-campus online course was designed to surpass the efficiency of traditional on-campus courses. It utilizes a combination of high quality presentations with voice over by the course Instructor, cross reference to applicable parts of the textbook, downloadable presentation slides, slide notes, a workbook to help students review practice and memorize the information presented in the lectures, hyperlinks leading to useful external references and recommended readings, a 10 questions multiple-choice Quiz per module, a homework assignment per module, and a 100 multiple-choice questions course Final Exam. COURSE SUCCESS CRITERIA
Grading: Quizzes 10%, Homework Assignment 30%, Final Exam 60%
Grading Scale: A 90-100%, B 80-89%, C 70-79%, D 60-69%, Fail if less than 60% and you may get two retakes.
